does anyone elses charger make noise? my ad adapter makes noise whether the extension is plugged in or not.

Yes. It also gets extra loud and hot when the battery is being recharged from near depletion.

ah ok good to hear its normal...the adapter was extremely hot yesterday...was recharging from about 10%

There are a couple of threads about this in Apple's Discussion thingie on the support site (http://www.apple.com/support).

Mine does the same thing, and it appears so do a lot of other adapters, but I'm not sure if it's normal or not. I haven't had a chance to stop at the Apple dealer in the area and have them check it out.

Mine *definitely* doesn't make noise. Just held it up to my ear and it's completely silent. In all honesty, unless Apple does something very strange with their adapters, the only thing that could make them make noise would be if something inside was burning. There are no moving parts in a power adapter...
