i finally went to the 5th ave apple store.
once you get past the glass cube, it's...just a store.
it's a short flight of stairs down (but so many people are taking the glass elevator
)
at least the place is mobbed!
but apple really is a cult...
played with the macbook; not yet ready to give my my 12" revC powerbook!
not crazy about the keyboard, but adapted to it easily enough.
the screen was better than i expected, but, for me at least, the screen, the whole thing screams "consumer".
some smudge marks on the casing, but cleanable (i imagine).
considering the size of this, though, i -
looked at the 15" mbp; it's a beautiful machine (well, the last powerbooks were);
liked the keyboard better (than the mb); great screen; i like the thinness, seems smaller in that regard than the mb.
overall, great macs. (altho i'm holding out, perhaps hopelessly, for a true 12" pb replacement).
just my rant for the day; again, glad to see the apple store packed.
