Anybody played it on new MacBook? Instructions on the web site says it won't run on any graphics chip with the word "Intel" in it. But I haven't seen anybody on this or any other forum try it.

I've actually heard that second Life runs surprisingly well on the MacBook.

You have heard wrong. I tried UniversalBinary SL on a BlackBook with 2GB ram. SL performance is pretty bad - even with everything turned down... Not sure why. maybe it's my net connection... I mean it works and all, but it's choppy - not enjoyable IMHO.

Second Life is choppy even on my G5 with a radeon x800.

Thanks for the responses and sorry for the delay. Hadocon, have you tried SL on that same Internet connection but with other machines?
I've been all over the Net looking for the answer to whether the MacBook will play SL, and the answer seems to boil down to:
1) What do you mean by play? Is it ok if it jerks around like an early David Byrne video?
2) How much RAM to you have?

This is what WoW is for. Seriously, if you've tried Second Life and not WoW, give it a shot. It's worth the monthly fee.
Also, the reason it runs so bad on the MacBook is because (as everyone should know by now) the 3d performance of the Intel chip is horrid.

I like the interactivity of both WoW and Second Life, but I prefer SL. I have a hard time with WoW and the whole Dungeons and Dragons thing.

The performance of the integrated graphics is by no means "horrid".
I have played SL on my 15" 1.25Ghz Powerbook with 1.5GB RAM (and a dedicated graphics card) and performance also is not that great.
Overall it is not a problem at all to play SL on a MacBook (or even my old Powerbook) - but performance of SL compared to other 3D games on the same system is below average, even though it's a universal binary. Seems to me that SL could use some serious performance tweaks.
