Hi all,
I got 15" MBP (2.16GHz, 100GB 7200RPM) and I really like it - no whine, doesn't get too hot, even illumination. However there seems to be a problem with iSight camera. During initial setup it worked and I took a photo for my account no problem. Then, after logging on, it worked for another couple of minutes in PhotoBooth after which the picture froze. While I was using MBP over the following few days after purchase I noticed that usually camera works immediatelly after booting up MBP, but after 30 - 60 secs it stops and after restarting PhotoBooth it says that the camera is not connected, or another application is using it, which I don't think is the case as there no other apps running. When the camera works after fresh boot up I can see it listed in the USB section of System Profiler, but when it stops working it's not on the USB device list. I thought that the problem might be a loose connection of the camera cable inside the MBP, so I went to Apple store and asked Mac Genius to have a look at it. He took it to the back of the store and when he came back he said that the cable was correctly connected, but he reseated it to mke sure the connection was right. After the restart the camer worked, but only for a few seconds and the same thing happened - the picture froze and the camera wouldn't respond afterwards.

I run the hardware test as well as Tech Tool Pro but neither reported any errors. If anyone has had similar problem and got it solved please let me know how. Mac Genius suggested to send it in to Apple service, but before I do it I wanted to check whether there might be some other tests/things I could check myself.

Thanks.

Mickey
