I've had my MacBook Pro since March 7 of this year. Everything has been working fine up until now - that is - with the exception of the notorious whine, but that's beside the point.
My battery it seems has been failing on me; it appears that it no longer holds a charge. When fully charged everything seems okay, menu bar meter states 'charged' and the light on the maglev is green. However, as soon as I unplug the power chord, in five minutes the computer shuts off. I'll check the meter on the battery itself and it'll indicate full charge - five green lights. Unfortunately, upon restart with the power chord still unplugged, the computer shuts down again while booting. I'll turn it on again, and then it's shut down even faster - almost instantaneously. Doing a final check of the battery meter reveals one flashing light which obviously means the battery is dead.
So with this, I was just wondering if anyone has experienced the same problem.
Note, I do use this computer like a desktop most of the time with a wireless keyboard & mouse. Could this problem be due to the fact that it's always plugged in? Still, this should not be...
I'd like to find out if there's anything I can do first before driving 40 miles down the road to the Apple store. Any suggestions on what to do, hardware testing, resetting, calibration, or battery replacement types are welcome. Thank you in advance.
