Hi, I posted this at Apple discussions, but haven't a reply.

Our iBook was accidentally dropped onto the floor and it broke the display. It now only displays a bunch of weird gray areas with crazy colors and part of the regular OS in the upper left corner. It looks like it's internally shattered (if that's possible). It looks like a car window when it cracks...all the zig-zag lines splitting out everywhere, but it's inside.

Anyway, Apple said nearly $800 to repair it. Wondering if anyone has any good ideas for fixing it or for parting it out.

connect it to an external monitor and see if it still works.
