Hi
Just broken my Ibook screen - 12" G4 1.33ghz model- almost new- so I have been crying all afternoon- darn kids jostled me in the street and I dropped my bag.
So- Can anyone tell me who manufactures the screen? I have searched but found nothing-I am confident I can fix it as I have lots of experience taking macs apart, I just can't find the model number online.
Thanks
L

Your best bet would probably be to check eBay. There are plenty of people who part out their old, dead/unwanted laptops. For example, a quick search brought up six auctions here.

I bought a iBook LCD from ebay a few months ago to fix a friend's cracked LCD. Popped it in and it works flawlessly. Here's a tip: it's easier to replace just the LCD than the whole screen module that people are selling online. Only takes about 8 screws as opposed to like... 60.

Hi
Thanks- I was wondering about that- I might undo the housing on the screen and see if there is a part number inside. I am a bit worried about bidding for a screen and then finding it only works on an earlier model...
I guess my alternative is sell the whole thing on Ebay!
Cheers

No need, all iBook 12" (G3's and G4's) use the same LCD. Just the newer ones (more recent G4 iBooks) use slightly brighter ones...

Hi
So my Ibook which is the last 12" model should take an earlier screen then?
This could be a big saving...
Thanks

Hi
So can I just replace the screen by opening the housing and slotting an new one in?
or do I need to completely disassemble the Ibook and remove the whole screen unit -
disconnecting it from the board etc before then opening up the screen housing and replacing the lcd?
I had a look at some websites and they make it sound very hard- I though I could just take the four screws from around the lid of the screen and work on it that way...
Thanks for everyone's help, I was pretty cut up about this but you have all made me feel better!
Cheers
