Okay so I'm looking to purchase a macbook next month, and this will be my first step into the macworld. I've been doing some reading and it seems its much cheaper to go with your own upgrades rather than the ones on the website. So I want to make sure I'm getting the right stuff. I should be getting 200-Pin DDR2 667 (PC2 5300)? is that correct, cause i saw 667 with a PC2 5400, and then the hard drive should be 2.5. Is the fastest 7200 for this laptop the 100gb cause that's all I saw when I did a little search. Also if I get this HDD do I just take the old one out and put in the new one with a restore disk. Basically I just want to know how do I get it back to as if it was just coming out of the box, cause I plan on doing this the first day I get the laptop

Thanks for the help in advanced, and I did my own research already, but I figured the best place to double check is to ask the people who already have them.

Regarding the RAM, I don't know. Maybe someone will post the correct answer. By the time being, this is what Mactracker says.
If you are not planning to use your MacBook before upgrading the HD, you can replace it, boot from the Mac OS X DVDs and do a fresh install. Maybe you will miss some bundled 3rd party software.

Y no entienden nada... ¡y cómo se divierten!...

Hi,

The MacBook ships with PC2-5300 RAM. I'm not sure if PC2-5400 works though.

About changing the HDD's, you will simply have to re-install Mac OS X from the supplied DVDs. And you'll get all the software and everything that came on the original HDD so no worries.
