I'm sure this has been asked before, but I'll spread the love?
Is there a real difference between the $80 ram and the $200 ram? They seem to be about the same....

Expect a memory chip price war bigtime when school starts, a rep told me.
Now if gas prices would do the same....

Year-end sales will be ferocious in electronics and memory for all manufacturers scrambling for a piece of the pot in their marketplace.
Apple's major advance purchase of flash and other memory ensures their memory share is in place.
The factoid on price wars came from a memory chipmakers sales rep, who likely has a good feel of the pulse and direction, since markets are determined sometimes a year in advance; much like the fashion industry knows next springs' styles already.
Intel already knows and released processor families publicly, but computer makers have had samples long ago for logic board designs.
