After I updated to 10.4.7 I have been experiencing problems that have never come up before. One of them being when I close my MacBook lid, it goes to sleep. I then left my laptop on my bag for about 2 hours. I come back, open the case, wait a couple secs Airport wakes up, and then notice that my battery life is at half. I pick up the MacBook and feel the bottom and its as hot as if I had been using it the past few hours.

Any ideas? I'm thinking about reformatting because this is bullshit. Btw, how do I go about reformatting?

Hi ael719

In my case, i experience hotter temperatures then before, but nothing else.

I can't believe Apple releases a update to make the Macbook's hotter.

My girlfriend's mother's macbook did this today. I'll have to see if she has 10.4.7 on it. Are you sure that the macbook didn't wake up while it was in the bag?

All I did was close my laptop, place it in my bag, and left it there because I forgot to bring it. I don't even know how to wake my laptop up when it is closed.

BTW, it happened again!!! This time with the power cord plugged in. I closed the laptop when I went to sleep and when I comeback its still on, but this time everything is frozen. I can't even click the Apple menu to restart. I had to hold down the power button. So far my longest uptiime with 10.4.7 has been 12 hours. Its coming to the point where I rather go back to Windows, but now I'm passed my return date and am stuck with a retarded MacBook.

Is there anyway I can go back to 10.4.6?

Well...you might want to focus on getting some help from someone at the Apple store or Apple. There will be plenty of patches to come. Hopefully one or some will fix issues like heat etc. but you cannot stay with an old rev for very long.

Even when your MacBook is asleep, it is still consuming power, as it is holding some data in memory so that you can open it up and return to the state that you were in - it is not a complete utter power down. As a result, you will use some battery power. Though it should not consume half a battery in two hours when asleep.

I agree that some future patches may solve the problem. But when you are asleep you will consume some power, but it should only be a trickle.

My gf's mother's macbook is running 10.4.6 and not 10.4.7 so this might not actually be related to the update. ChrisB, this is a case where the computer is not entirely shutting down or going to sleep so it's still running while it's in the bag and therefore using up the battery and getting really hot.
