hi - i'm shopping around for a good 120GB HD for my new MacBook (currently has a 60). I found the following for $150 at TigerDirect, but under tech specs, for interface it only says "2.5-in Mobile". Does this mean it has an old (parallel) ATA interface, or a newer S-ATA interface (which I understand is required by the MB)? How can I know whether this drive will work in my MB?

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...2&NoMapp=0

thanks for any tips,
ox

I would assume it is the older ATA interface and therefore would not work... just my guess though.

i highly suggest seagate's drive. here's the research that caused me to choose seagate over hitachi, etc

http://techreport.com/reviews/2006q1...s/index.x?pg=1

ps - it is a very long review/article. i read everything up until page 8 or so, then i skipped a lot of the graphs because i am not familiar with the benchmarks.

by the way, i would stay away from tiger direct. i have heard on the various forums for bargain hunters that they are very shady. (no personal experience, though)

If you want a WD Scorpio, it must be one with a SATA interface. I got mine at

Works great in my MacBook. Just be sure to....

1. Pay attention and remember which direction the drive sled fits when you take the original out.

2. Be sure to seat the new drive and mounting sled back in all the way.

I'd recommend cloning your original drive to an external drive and then cloning it back into the MacBook after you format the newly installed drive with Disk Utility (on your OS 10.4.6 DVD)

SuperDuper works well. I switched to SuperDuper after some issues with Carbon Copy cloner on my MacBook.
