About a month after my sister had to buy a new battery for her iBook G3, the logic board went belly-up. Since the battery is nearly new, and we've got two other iBooks in the house, I'm wondering if it's possible to store the batter somehow in case one of the other iBooks should need a new battery. Do I just need to discharge it, is it simply not possible to keep one in storage for any length of time?

If they are G3's you could save the battery just fine. I would rotate the batteries so that they recieve equal use or just discharge it.

It's not good to store the battery completely discharged. You should keep it at about 75% charged.

Also, batteries do not have unlimited shelf lives, so don't expect it to last forever, even if it's just sitting around.

Yeah I wouldn't say the battery life for a G3 is that good. My iBook G3 is a Dual-USB from 2001, and the original battery lasts, at the most, around 15 minutes. I don't think i'll get a new battery because I never need to unplug it and I will be getting a MacBook soon.

Whoa! My PowerBook 5300's original battery lasts at least 1 and a half hours!
