I've got a Lombard 333/192 running 10.4.7 that won't charge about ~70%. It's plugged into the wall with a powerbook 1400 power adaptor rated at 45W/1.875 amps. The battery will last a good hour or two while surfing wirelessly from fully charged, but all of a sudden this week it won't charge fully, even if I leave it plugged in and on or off (tried both) for a day or two.

Zap the PRAM:

Hold Apple-Option-P-R through 2 chimes

Delete this file and reboot:

/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.PowerManagement.plist

Reset the PMU:

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.h...num=14449#faq3

Hope these help.

Recalibrate the battery by charging it (until it stops charging) and then draining it slowly. Do that several times.

If this battery is more than 5 years old, it could be running out of charge cycles. It has a finite number of recharges before it starts to weaken. If you just bought a new third party battery, maybe the battery is not good.

AFAIK this is the original battery with the computer. I tried all three solutions from memory-minus, but the best it could manage was 80% then it would claim it was fully charged. I'm gonna try reconditioning it like Tooki says. We'll see what happens. Thanks for the help!

Even so, it should still report 100% charge, even if it only took it a matter of minutes to drop to 0%.

Gossamer, it shouldn't matter since IIRC your PowerBook takes a 45w adapter, have you tried a "legit" PB G3 power adapter? That may be the next step if reconditioning doesn't work. I suggest maybe borrowing one to test.

Besides the shape, there is no difference between a PB1400 AC adapter and one from a PB G3. They are electrically identical and entirely interchangeable.
