I have PowerBook G3 500 FW, i recently resoldered the power connection to the AC Sound board, however when i plug it in the battery charges but the unit gets horribly hot, the same with just the battery the unit gets really really really hot and wont start. Any Ideas on this

Perhaps you soldered it incorrectly? But how do you really solder incorrectly?
