Hi, I just bought a used iBook Clamshell and i was tring to connect up to the internet thru my cable modems Ethernet, which usually plugs in to the computer. I am new to OSX, and don't know much. I was wondering if anyone could talk me thru the steps of getting my OSX iBook online?

With a cable modem, the answer should be "plug it in."
Depending on the cable modem/provider, you may need to unplug the cable modem (from power) for 5 minute - 24 hours to clear its association with the old computer's MAC address.

Well, that would be nice, but I need to plug it in and use it fairly quickly, and them plug it back in. (Its a Motorola SB5120, and I have Comcast, if that helps anyone)

With a SurfBoard on Crapcast, you're looking at the 5m-24h dance as far as I know.
I think the best solution is to buy a $10 wired router or a $40 wireless router (if the iBook has Airport).
