Might sound a little strange to ask but is it just in the US ( or other countries who have 110v power supplies ), who have problems with overheating/ fizzing power supplies? Mine is plugged in 24/7 and yes it is warm but no fizzing or very high temps. At the moment we are having a record heatwave in London ( 90 degrees + ) so if it is going to get hot it should be now?? So is input voltage making a difference........... ...??

I'm in the UK too and my power supply is only ever warm. The side of the Macbook where the power goes in is hotter than the power supply (but if you stick a fan on it and it cools down very quickly).

Maybe it is something to do with the voltage, but you'd think our UK ones would be hotter in that case.
