They're saying the Mac Mini (Intel) and iMac (Intel) are good for processor upgrades when Meron processors ship. The newer, higher performance Merom can be dropped in as a replacement for the Yohan chips currently installed. The gains should be quite noticable. Can we MacBook owners do this as well?

PowerLogix does upgrades to Titanium PowerBooks that also have soldered CPUs. I would imagine that the upgrade companies may also offer CPU upgrades to MacBooks and MacBook Pros eventually.
Requires that you ship it to them, definately is not a do-it-yourself upgrade.

But would it be cost effective. Now that we're in the intel realm where faster cpus are coming out very quickly it seems that apple can incorporate these faster processors in their machines. Before speed bumps were few and far between, now they may be sooner thus making the idea of sending in a laptop to have brain surgery not too economical.
