OSX hangs up on splash screen Ibook (error code)

I get to the splash screen goes all the way to the end, i went into devmode and get it.

cant exec getty /system/library/corservices/loginwindow.app/contents/macos/loginwindow/for part/dev/console exec format error

I recently upgraded from the preloaded os from the ibook, os 10 something?

i upgraded from 9. something to tiger, and it locks up at the boot screen but that status bar keeps moving , and if i boot into the console it keeps showing that error above.
