G'day,

I'm just interested to find out from those who have had to repair their pb/mbp's what they got done, and how much it cost. It's bloody hard to find out what the cost of a repair is, so I'm hoping to basically make an informative thread for those looking at getting something repaired!

Cheers,

Sam

p.s. template:

Model: [powerbook/macbook pro, 12"/15"/17"]

Issue: [what needed to be fixed]

Cost: [obvious]

Result: [Did the repair completely fix the problem - where you happy!]

Model: 1.mumble Ghz 12" PowerBook

Issue: Dying HD, dead ComboDrive

Action: Replace HD with 40GB 5400RPM, replace ComboDrive with SuperDrive

Cost: $60 for Seagate HD, $75 for Pioneer DVR-K06 (8x DL), $45 for labor (CompUSA) for a total of $180 (compare to $700 at Apple... for 60G + ComboDrive!)

Result: Still at the shop. Should be back in a couple days.
