Okay, I've been trying like mad to get this TiBook working, and so far, no dice. I tried networking it with my G5 Dual 2.0, and I can't get the sharing preference pane to open, I just get the SBBD every time. I opened the case and messed with the ribbon cable for the optical drive, nothing. So, my question is this, is it possible one of the two 128mb RAM sticks is causing this issue? If so, I guess I could remove them one at a time and see if improves anything?

Thanks,
Tom

PS Haven't worked up the stones to pay $30 for a stinking firewire cable to try Target mode and install the OS that way yet.

Why would the ribbon cable for the optical drive have anything to do with a networking problem (unless you mean you can't mount an OS install disk)? In any case, what kind of "stones" are required to use target disk mode? A cable is cheap (look a little harder; I haven't seen a FW cable cost $30 in ages) and can be used for many other connections. That would be the easiest way to fix this problem. This doesn't really sound like a RAM problem at all unless you are also getting kernel panics.

The $30 cables are at CompUSA and Staples, as nobody I know has one. I probably will buy one online, I found one on Amazon for $6.00, but as usual, I'm dying to get it working NOW

The ribbon cable and optical drive were mentioned due to the fact that I can't just do a clean install directly on the laptop itself because the drive won't work at all. I'm running out of options, no optical drive, no networking, if Firewire Target mode doesn't work, I'm screwed.

Thanks,
Tom
