Story of poor flextronic applecare service.

-HD in Rev b 12" had a smart failure on disk utility but no obvious symptoms
-brought it into apple store
-apple store tech opened it , noticed something wrong with external sound.
-sent it in to depot
-depot calls saying that audio jack is broken, not covered by applecare. No evidence of external damage on computer. I decline $1200 logic board replacement.
-computer is sent back to store
-powerbook is then DOA, does not power on, at apple store. and, to make matters even worse, is missing the 4 F keys required to get inside.

There was obviously no professionalism involved in this servicing.

the store sent it right back priority, but this was pretty poor, resulting in no machine for a while. We'll see when it gets back.

I had a previous hard drive failure for the same PB in the past, and flextronic returned my powerbook with a 30gb drive instead of a 40 gb drive. Computer was sent back.

i never had this many problems in equipment or servicing with thinkpads.

I hate reading posts like this. One would think that the expense of Applecare would get immediate, white-glove, no-questions-asked, capital-S service. I'm so effing tired of spending money for shiite service.

Good luck Skarim, and thanks for the clear and calm post.

Skarim, that is indeed very shitty service. I feel your pain since I've been through a similar ordeal with an AASP before.

Try to get them to repair everything they've broke and if it's not to your full satisfaction demand they repair it again or exchange it with an equal PB. Always stay polite but be firm and when all is done, report the whole incident to Apple customer relations.

Good luck.

Definitely report that to Apple, and complain to Flextronic management.

In writing.

Do NOT settle for anything less than a working machine in the exact same cosmetic condition as before.
