Sorry if this has been asked before. I didn't find it anywhere.

Basically I am supposed to go pickup my new MBP tomorrow from the Apple store. I had a Dell 700m (12") before, and really think the MB would be good for my needs with the 13" screen. The only reason for getting the MBP is the express card slot so I can use Verizons EVDO network.

Any other way to get EVDO on the MB since it doesn't have an express card slot?

Also, what are the other differences between the MB and MBP? Size, graphics card and backlit keyboard. Anything else?

TIA

On the Sprint network, it's a piece of cake to use the phone as a bluetooth modem. The phone connects via EVDO to the internet and bluetooth to the Mac. I think Verizon cripples the bluetooth so it can't be used this way. Failing that, a USB cable will work very well.

Tethering is the other option ... which BTW you'll also have to do with the MBP until an Express slot card comes out for EVDO. AFAIK all the current cards are PC-Cards.

(That's a sticking point for me as well ... three things in fact push me toward the MBP ... backlit keyboard, express slot and the video card.) But ... the price difference is a heck of a premium for those items.

Thanks. I see that Dell released a verizon expresscard. evdoinfo.com says it will work with the MBP. Since I use verizon, I guess I can't get the MB instead of the MBP.

Thanks for the tip on the VZW card. Hopefully something for Sprint will be coming out soon. (I'd prefer to not pay the Verizion premium prices.)

I use EVDO through bluetooth on my Verizon phone. Works great. Just depends on the phone. Go to howardforums.com to find out everything you need to know.
