that battery draining process when I
first received my BlackBook.

How important is that to do, as the
manual recommends? Do folks here
do that frequently?

Also, I need to purchase a spare
battery for the 13.3" Blackbook.
Where is the best place to do that?

I don't think it is really important, but you can do it at any time...even now.

By the way, it isn't necessary to type your messages in such short lines. Don't hit return when you reach the end of the window. Just keep typing and let the text wrap around.

The Apple store online has 3-4 week wait times for the BlackBook battery.You might try your luck at a brick-and-mortar Apple store.
