I just got a great deal on a new powerbook g4 12 inch.. 1.5ghz 768mb of ram,80 gb hd, 8x superdrive, mighty mouse, airport express, and a sleeve for $770... well I think its been refurbished because for some strange reason the box is marked 2003 but the serial number I checked said it was a january 2005 model. What my question is that everything is in great condition with this no dead/stuck pixels/ no scratches whatsoever, superdrive works great but my only downside is that the fan is kind of loud. I can hear the fan but not so much where it is annoying, I also own a macbook pro 17 inch and the fan is very quiet and only loud rarely when its running extensive work on it but even when it is the fan is not as loud as this 12 inch. When the 12 inch is idle or doing little tasks I can hear the fan but sometimes when using the superdrive or dragging large sized applications or movies the fan is pretty loud. But is it normal for the 12 inch powerbook g4 1.5ghz to have a fan that's on most of the time and that you can hear it all the time?? Does it ever stop using the fan or is it a good thing that the fan is on all the time since the 12 inch doesnt have alot of room for the heat to dissipate? Also will adding a 1gb of ram reduce the use of fan?.. just curious if my fan behavior is normal or not..

That sounds like normal behavior to me, the fan is always on for the 12 inchers, it isn't too loud to me though. 1 gig of RAM will not make the fan any quieter.
