Was your RAM factory installed or aftermarket?

Ours had white stuff too. Looked like they put the RAM in some sort of scraper or shaver so it would slide in easier. The white stuff was the solder resin on the RAM chips. More QC rushing.

Too easy .....They forgot to push it in or it jarred out on the plane from Shanghai. We pushed ours in to click and it was OK.

Looks like we MacBook owners weren't the only ones having difficulty installing RAM. They must have been having trouble at the factory. By the time they figure it out, the MacBooks will be EOL'd.

I want to wager that all the sudden shutdown problems will turn out to be BAD RAM related somehow missing on showing up in burn in or in hardware logic diagnostics.

How come the other maker's Intel Duo's don't have random shutdowns?

Try resetting P-RAM* and don't shut it down afterward; just let the MacBook sleep.

*Reset P-RAM (make sure MacBook is off-see below at **)

Start MacBook by pressing power button, then immediately and simultaneously hold down the command and option keys with your right thumb and the letter 'P' and letter 'R' keys (total of 4 keys) and keep them depressed while you hear your MacBook chime at least 3 times, maybe 30 seconds or so and release all keys at once and you should be good to go.

If you never did this before, practice (rehearse) with your MacBook off. **If it won't shut off. hold the power switch down till you hear a click and your front power light shuts off.

Here's an everyday shortcut (no trackpad action necessary) to restart or shutdown.
Press the power button very briefly when it's working. You get the dialogue choices of :

Restart........Sleep...........Cancel...........Sh utdown

Press letter R for Restart
Press letter S for Sleep
Click Cancel to Cancel
Press Return to Shutdown

I bought it at the Apple Store in Dallas,TX @ the Knox and Henderson store. That's the original store out of the 3 that we have in Dallas and the suburbs.

It's a standard 1.83/combo drive........I'm maxing RAM out next week.

Week # 29

What do the rest of the letters mean?

I'm loving mine, don't know how I have lived in the college world without it?
