Hello, I have a problem with my Macbook Pro, I am taking it with me to the University, and keeping it Off, but when I turn it on, It does NOT START UP!!, this is the second time that this happens... I don't know what to do!, well, the only thing that makes it to turn ON, is to press the Start Up button for a couple of seconds...
If someone else is having the same problem that I do, post it here...
Thanks

UPDATE: I'm back up and running. In my case, an archive/install from the MBP's installation DVD(s) enabled my computer to boot just fine. I did a software update as well.
Hopefully, there will be no more problems like this.

Having to press the power button for 10 seconds (which shuts the laptop down) indicates that the MBP wasn't shut down properly, and I suspect that it had a kernel panic with black screen. Run disk utility, either using fsck or the install DVD. Running fsck means holding down the Apple-s keys during startup until a black screen with scrolling white text appears. At the prompt type "fsck -fy" and hit return. Don't type the quotes and do put a space in between fsck and -fy.
Another thing to try is to download the large Combo updater, and apply that right over the top, even in you've already done the update. This frequently fixes things.
