Hi, I really hope someone out there can help me! I call Apple and they say it's a Microsoft issue...I hear that if call Microsoft they will say it's an Apple issue...

I don't know what kind of issue this is!

In any case, I installed Parallels onto my new MacBook (2 GHz w/ 1 GB RAM), and then installed XP Home. All seemed to be fine. But for whatever reason whenever I put in the install disc for Office PRO 2003, it keeps ejecting. I was able to install office XP fine, and mount another CD in the parallels pc environment, so I don't know why this particular CD is being rejected. The office pro software installed fine on a Dell, so it's presumably not the CD.
Anyone have any idea what the problem might be? I'm new to the MacBook and Parallels itself, so maybe I missed something in the setup. I also tried to do this through the Image Tool, but it says 'cannot read data from default CD/DVD rom.'

I would appreciate any help, I'm not finding it anywhere else!

Thanks in advance!

hmm I honestly don't know... go to the parallels forum or contact parallels support, I guess. Do other CDs you're using just for OS X eject like so? or just when screwing with parallels?

Other Mac CDs mount fine, other PC CDs do too....
The Microsoft software CD doesn't mount on the Mac, it's for windows platform.
Parallels has not gotten back to me after 2 emails, and I couldn't find anything in their FAQs.
When I put in the CD it makes some noise like a ramp up and fade down, does that a few times, then ejects it after about 30 seconds. I don't know what to make of this.
Thanks for your help!

All working disks should mount on the Mac desktop, whether they are for Mac, PC, DVD, whatever, one of beauties of Mac compatibility. With Parallels not running, the disk should mount directly on your Mac desktop.

Hi,
well I managed to get a hold of someone at Microsoft who was very nice, and she indicated that the Office CDs can have problems with combo drives (CD & DVD). So the solution was to make a copy of the install CD using my Dell & CD-drive..the CD-R with the Office software then mounted fine in Parallels' XP, and installed itself nicely. Apparently it is legal (and in the license agreement) to make 1 copy as a backup/personal use.
So the problem was the combo drive and the CD not playing well together, but the workaround was pretty simple. Thanks to those who helped!!
