Shouldn't be a problem. I just worry because the adapter seems to stay warm.

i doubt it's a problem, but it probably is drawing a current. in the interest of global warming it might be an idea to unplug the charger when not in use.

it may be only a small amount of power saved, but it all counts in the long run

Yes, unplug it for the planet. I read somewhere that all the mobile phone chargers in the world, left in the plugs but not used, waste a huge amount of energy. So unplug it, or, if the plug has a switch (like they do here in blighty) switch the plug off.

I wish I had switches for individual plugs. Those are so convenient. I leave my adaptor plugged in because I disconnect my Powerbook a lot, so it's too much of a hassle to pull it out of the power strip all the time.

It's sometimes referred to as parasitic power use. Anything like a computer charger that you leave plugged in (that doesn't have an off switch that really turns it OFF) will use a few milliwatts just sitting there. These things add up. Instant on TVs. Phone chargers. Amplified computer speakers that stay on all the time. All of it adds up to a LOT of power that is just plain wasted.

It is GOOD for the planet to unplug what you're not using. But leaving a laptop plugged in while you're using it won't hurt anything. Just unplug it when you're done and you won't waste anything.

I never understood why american power sockets and other countries don't have an on/off switch on the plug sockets.
