Have any of you used this for your MacBook or MacBook Pro?

Any thoughts or opinions please?

Uses no battery or electricity, apparently.

It's just a heat pipe, so it doesn't need any electric power.

The problem is that the heat pipes appear to be nowhere near the major sources of heat in the MBP case.

Does that mean it's probably ineffective?

It's as effective as any other pad in getting the heat off your lap. But I doubt it will reduce your machine's temperatures.

The iCurve stand would be better I think, it allows for ventilation from the underside of the laptop. I noticed my Macbook running a few degree's cooler while on the stand.

Thanks,

How portable is it?

I saw recently posted that Griffin discontinued this; not sure how accurate the info though.

My son has a PowerBook, I have a MacBook, and we both use an ILap...it keeps our laptops cooler and is fairly portable/convertable:

It's as portable as any other stand, though I don't think it's designed to typed on...

Best way to cool down a laptop (and yourself as well) is a small desk fan blowing at an elevated laptop.

My Targus 2-fan usb cooler really doesn't seem to do much cooling, because it's trying to pull air away from the laptop, rather than gathering air and blowing it at the hot spots.

And if you really must have a lap pad, try this one. I don't anyone who has one, but it sure beats everything pricewise:
