Trackpad and keyboard not waking?

Since I installed Tiger on my iBook I've been having trouble with my trackpad and keyboard not responding after it wakes from sleep.

When the machine wakes up, the display comes on, and everything looks normal - clock moves, etc. However, my trackpad and keyboard are unresponsive for anywhere from 10 to 60 seconds after I wake it up, UNLESS it went to sleep via energy saver, in which case there are no issues. During the time when the trackpad and built-in keyboard are not working, my external keyboard and mouse continue to work normally ('though they're for my other computer, so that was just as a test - it can't be a permanent solution).

I had trouble with this back in OS 9, but not during the time when I had 10.2 installed just before installing Tiger.

Any suggestions?

Sorry, I can't answer your question but does Tiger run fairly fast on your iBook? I am curious.

old... I linked to the specs. it's a clamshell. 300MHz, pre-firewire.

. It's acceptable. I dunno if I'd call it fast, but its about the same as everything else has been... (having tried OS 9 and 10.2 in addition to tiger). The biggest issue at the moment is that it only has a 3GB HD, and a default Tiger install comes out to about 2GB. I've managed to prune mine down to about 1.2GB, but disk space is still fairly tight. I've only had Tiger for about 2 weeks, and I've been treating it fairly lightly, so... I know right after I finished the install the first time, it complained that I was almost out of disk space because I hadn't pruned it down yet, and it was using a lot of VM.

Thanks for the info! I am always curious as to how well Tiger runs on older Macs that Apple officially doesn't support.

yeah. it's not something that I'd recommend as a primary computer, (esp with such a small display), but it's acceptable for a portable, so I deal with it... (though it would help a lot if I had a working battery so I didn't have to cary my power adapter around everywhere...)
