I am planning on buying my father a MacBook in the next month or so- Does anyone know if Apple upgrades to the GMA965 chipset for graphics what is one going to expect in terms of video performance. Not that he plays games (but I do), will games like WOW and other graphics heavy games be playable?

I doubt Apple will upgrade the MacBook to GMA3000/GMAX300 (965 is the chipset series, but the GPU is called GMA3000) this year; January at the earliest.
GMA3000/GMAX3000 is a substantial upgrade from GMA950. You can read everything about it here.

Poke around the MacBook forum, plenty of people have talked about playing WoW.

The Intel roadmap may have a lot to do with it too. Use the index in the following link (near page bottom) to see some tests.

This is the summary link, for those that don't want to read through" http://anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/sho...=2808&p=17

An excerpt: "For Apple users this means that early adopters of the new MacBook or MacBook Pro won't be too pressured to upgrade again by the end of this year. Of course Apple has this way of making incremental changes irresistible."

I'm quite familiar with that article, having quoted and stolen graphs from it on several occations here.

Just to give the OP a timeline, the 965 chipsets for laptops won't be out until Q2 2007. The current crop are desktop-only. But when they do launch for mobiles, they'll come with some pretty cool tech, like Robson.
