Sold my iBook a couple of months back to get a MacBook (base model)
But all I keep hearing is they start to die after a few weeks.
Does anyone have a good working one?
I need to get one to run my iTunes music at an event in a couple of months but I cant have it shutting down half way through, it needs to run for 6-7 hours none stop.
Should I hold of and wait for rev.2

No, nobody has a working one - they are all broken.
Come on, get real... if 99% of the shipped MacBooks wern't perfect, Apple would have a serious problem.
Buy a MacBook, they are FINE.

Yes go for it. Remember that all of the people who have problems make up like 2% of all MacBook users.

I don't think 98% of macbook owners have problems.
Go for it, mine has been completely perfect, no random shut downs or anything, don't get too caught up in the minority of people that have issues and make a lot of noise about it (not saying stop whining, just that the people that don't have problems don't make threads about it everyday.)

There will always be issues with anything made on the market. I understand that, that was the case with my macbook thereor I am getting a replacement. Although I was extremly upset it is an electronic device so I expect things like the PMU unit to die. I recieved a FREE STM Alley (could have choosen any bag of my choice) for gratitude. I would say if you want to buy a Macbook go ahead and do it.

That is why I said "like." I have no clue what the actual percentage is, I am generalizing to make a point that most MacBooks are safe.
Edit: Math isn't my strong point, I should have said that remember only like 2% of MacBook owners have problems. I feel extremely dumb, please forgive me.
