I finally had a chance to update my MBP two nights ago. It had been a month or two since i had a connection fast enough to DL everything. Well everything seemed to download fine except the actual OS X update that was there, had an error. So everything else installed and restarted.

Now the Software Updater crashes everytime I go to update again to get that last remaining update that I'm assuming I need still, whatever it was I do not remember. Any ideas why the Updater keeps crashing after pressing search for update? Computer acted really odd for a while after the updates also. I shutdown over night and system profiler finally decided to open on me this morning.

Also noticed that I have no sound control, either with the FN keys or the IR Remote. The rest of the FN keys also do not work( brightness, etc.).

Can I get some help please, any suggestions welcome! Already ran disk and permissions check just incase, but neither helped any.

Go to http://www.apple.com/support/downloa...ombointel.html download and install that. That is the 10.4.7 combo update, hopefully it'll work and everything will be back to normal

Hey thanks, i downloaded and installed it( double clicked the pkg file atleast) Installer opened/closer real quick. Updater still continues to crash when ran from System Prefs.


Any ideas on that?

If the installer opened and closed quickly, it doesn't sound like it worked. It should be like an installation.
I'd suggest re-installing from your OS X cds.

Ok thanks, I did the backup and reinstall option. Everything seems to be working alright now, except the Apple USB modem( keep being kicked offline), which may be a completely other issue on its own.
