My 2 month old MBP didnt want to give me the little orange/green charging light on the plug last night when I went to charge it, and I noticed the following wire burns near the adapter.

Anyone else know of any adapter problems? I have a dog, but he is not a wire chewer and hasnt been for the past 7 years so that is not what happened.....

thanks

I can't decide whether that looks like it's been damaged and then shorted, or the shorting out has caused the damage

If you call Apple and tell them about it they will most likley send you a new one (don't mention you have a dog).

sorry, that absolutely looks like a puncture, the plastic appears to be pushed in. You should just go buy your dog another power adapter.

If you send it in, Apple may bill your CC anyway...

That's not "absolutely" a puncture. Haven't you ever seen plastic melt before?

The Apple power adapters have a tendency to short inside the cable, especially near the brick or the computer. Stress weakens the internal insulation until it shorts, producing sparks, heat, and melting the cable.

Call Apple, tell them what happened. There's no need to mention the dog.
