Hi there,

I have an OLD ibook that is being very finicky right now (the monitor flickers on and off, and only works at a certain angle, if I'm lucky) and I think it is about time for me to purchase a new computer.

I really like Macs, but I don't want to get "Too much computer" for what I would use. I am a teacher, but my school has PC's, so I don't do a lot of school work other than word processing on my home computer. I enjoy music and movies, and like the ease of working with music and video on a Mac. I would be using my computer for home use - internet, photos, iTunes, word processing, and I like the calendar feature.

What would you suggest for me? I am primarily looking at notebooks, as I like to have the flexiblilty to travel with my computer. What kind would you suggest?

Thanks for your help!

The MacBook sounds like it would suit your needs fine. Also, Intel based Macs, which the MacBook is, can also boot Windows if you install it. This may come in handy when you need to do something for school.

Do you have an iBook G3? Sounds like the known video problem.

Apple might be willing to fix it for you.

But if they won't or if it's really time for a new Mac, I also think the MacBook is a good choice.
