Ok, I know that adding RAM or changing it out entirely is no problem from a warranty perspective, but what about operationally? Is there any problem with getting a MacBook Pro stock with 1GB of RAM and adding another 1GB from possibly (probably) a different source? Of course I'd be adding the correct spec part...

As long as you use memory with same specs you'll be alright. One thing to check is to make sure your MacBook Pro 1GB is 1 dimm (1x1Gb) not 2 dimms (2x512).

I'm assuming you want 2GB and if your current setup is 2 dimms (2x512) then you'll have to buy x2 1GB dimms instead of just one 1GB dimm.

Good luck with your upgrade!

I'm getting the 2.16GHz 15.4" model, which Apple says comes with 1X1GB DIMM, thus the question. Thanks for the reply.
