Does anyone know if iMovieHD have PAL compatiblity? I'm using a Sony MicroMV (DCR-IP5) bought in Asia (PAL) to record home movies. I want to transfer my movies to my Macbook using firewire but when I'm using iMovieHD, it's saying 'Digital Camera not Comptaible'. Is there something I can download from Apple to use PAL format devices
Thanks everyone for reading.

Though this really has nothing to do with MacBooks specifically, according to the built-in help, iMovie detects your camera's format when you start a new project. Check out the help. It's actually quite helpful!

The issue you have is nothing to do with PAl or NTSC format, it is to do with the camera being MicroMV.
Unfortunately iMovie does not support MicroMV cameras, it only works with MiniDV, MPEG4 and HDV. Your camera is non of these formats and will therefore not be recognised by iMovie.
You can read more about supported formats here :-
