I recently bought a used ibook off ebay for my wife who is not great with computers. But I am not exactly excellent either. After receiving the ibook i see that there is already an administrator acount that is password protected. I try to contact the seller to no avail, so I think to myself, no problem ill just use an OS X disk I have to get around that. While holding the "c" key while booting nothing happened. It just booted normally, so I came to the conclusion that the owner had open firmware protection. Is there anyway I can get around this?
Thanks in advance.

Not sure there is a way to get around this is password protection is enabled in Open Firmware... (unless you actually get the password from the previous owner).

Are you trying to boot off the original install disc? You won't be able to boot off an install disc from another Mac. My guess is that you're not using the right disc.

I would purchase a new Tiger install disc and perform an erase and install. You could also contact Apple and purchase the original install discs that came with the iBook. I believe those run about $20 per disc.
