I've got a week 29 MacBook that so far has been trouble free. It was upgraded at the store to 2 GB, and I upgraded it to a 160 GB HD. So far none of the known MacBook issues have surfaced.

I frequently leave it running and usually only shut it down every few days. Last night I shut it down, and this morning when I hit the Power button all that happened was the screen "sort of" lit, like the backlight came on (the apple was lit on the cover), the Superdrive made a little bit of noise, then nothing. Shut it down, waited a bit, tried it again, same thing. Popped the battery out for a while, didn't help.

So I did the old zapping of the pram, and it came back to life. I've had it about a month and have not done that, I've updated the software and made sure the daily, weekly and monthly utilities have run.

This may have been a one time glitch, maybe after all that had been done to this machine a reset of the pram was a good idea. But since the MacBook is still in it's infancy I thought I would post my experiences in hopes that maybe it would help a fellow MacBook owner...

And it has happened a couple more times, either booting cold or doing a restart.

BRING

IT

IN

don't be like me and leave it alone.
the problem will get worse, and worse, and worse, until it's too late to get it serviced before you move to Israel, and then you will have to deal with the clueless jackasses at the Yeda office in Tel Aviv, which is about as much fun as having your eyeballs eaten out by jackrabbits

(me: "It's a MacBook."
dumbass: "Is that a G5?"

me: "Write down this AppleCare case number."
dumbass: "What's that?"

me: "My phone number has an extension, 200."
dumbass: "Now you're really confusing me.")

OK, maybe you won't have to deal with exactly that situation, but you get my point.

Yeah, probably good advice, I've been hesitating since I put the 160 GB drive in myself but maybe I'll swap the 60 GD drive back in and go to the store. Sorry for your bad experience!
