I've heard that at least one new apple product will be announced next Tuesday. Some people say Ipod and some say laptops. Even though it may not be next week, do you think the macbook will get an update with the core 2 duo?

I would especially like to see the problems go away for the next macbook update.

1. Sudden shutdowns
2. Color changes
3. Overheating

With these changes, I will definitely get myself a macbook.

1. Is this really a persistent issue? Not just a few defective units?

2. Resolved as far as I know after that initial batch of bad plastics.

3. What do you consider overheating? Pegging the CPU at 85 and engaging thermal protection? Or a warm underside?

2. How do you know which one of what batch you are buying? That is the problem. I hope a new fresh updated version releases soon.

3. I mean using may apps at the same time which will overheat it and be bad to use on your lap.

The batch of bad plastics was done and over with weeks ago, and Apple replaced all of the cases. If you buy now, you'll get one built this week.

I'm not sure what "ma[n]y apps" has to do with it... you can run one CPU intensive app and make it warm up, or many low-performance apps and have it remain cool. The MacBooks aren't terribly hot on the outside; they're within the norm for the industry.
