I'd do an Archive and Install of OS X and take the mighty mouse back and get a replacement.

Its a she. Someone please confirm its a virus or not. God I cant believe I have to go over the same sh*t and install an anti-virus on my first mac, just like the PC at work.

I can 99% reassure you it is NOT a virus. If it is, you're the first and it seems the only one to have it. Do an archive and install of OS X, you appear to have some corrupted fonts.
(Sorry for calling you a he).

seanc is correct, this is not a virus. you do not need to worry too much about those.
If this problem is not fixed by restarting your mac, then to me, it looks like a corrupt font somewhere.
i would reinstall the OS as seanc suggests. It's not difficult and is fairly painless, though it certainly can seem a bit daunting.
If you still have the OS install disc simply pop it in the drive and restart the machine from the Disc and perform an ARCHIVE and INSTALL.
Reinstalling the OS this way means that you wont loose anything that you have already put on your mac.

I don't know how useful it is, but Font Book has a Validate Fonts option under the File menu. Select all your fonts and run it. I don't know if it really does flag corrupt fonts, but it's worth a try before doing an Archive and Install.

Indeed try Validate Fonts. I had the wrong fonts in the Apple Menu show up back in the Panther days. Validating made it go away. It is 100% not one of three viruses for Macs

If the font validation doesn't work, you may not need to do an archive and install just yet. You should download and install the latest combo update from Apple and install that. If that doesn't work, then try the archive and install.

There are no known viruses. What you're speaking of was a trojan.

A trojan is just as unlikely, and would not cause this problem.
The problem is most likely a corrupt font cache. Download and run Tiger Cache Cleaner and have it deep-clean the caches. That'll likely fix the problem.
Otherwise, it's probably just that a necessary system font was mistakenly deleted or replaced, or corrupted. In that case, replacing the /System/Library/Fonts folder with an original one should fix it. That can be done by copying it from another Mac, reinstalling OS X, or by using Pacifist to install just that one component.
