Hey guys sorry if this is a repeat cause it probably is... But hey it's an easy answer...

I just got a iBook G4 800Mhz 12" CDRW/DVD w/ 128+512Ram

I was wondering what I could upgrade? It seems that it will support to 1GB ram? If this is the case I know it would be one stick and the apple profiler says PC2100 so what volt and pin is that?

I was also wondering about possible upgrade of the CPU to something faster? The other thing is that I noticed it has a port on the side that has a monitor symbol. What is that for? I would like to be able hook it up to the TV is this possible?

Thanks for taking the time to answer my simple newb questions.

Josh

You can upgrade the memory up to 128 + 1024. (i think the max is 128 + 512 officially, but 1024 does work too). DDR PC2100 or PC2700 • 2.5V •

It's not possible to upgrade the CPU. You can hook up your iBook to a VGA screen or TV with the proper adapters. (The VGA adapter should have been given to you with the iBook).

Cool Cool... what about the pin on the ram? I know it needs 2100 or 2700 2.5v now but what pin number?

I was also wondering if I could upgrade to Superdrive instead of combo drive?

Thanks,

Josh

200pin. Here is the direct link to crucial:

You should be able to put a superdrive in the iBook. You need to make sure you find a slot loading drive though.

sweet thanks for all the great information guys... The one thing I don't understand is why there is some sites that say 640MB of ram and others say 1152MB ram?

Anyone know why this is?

Officially Apple says the maximum is 640MB.

But 1152MB is widely reported to work just fine.

Thank you very much for all that information. I plan to own this for quite some time so I am looking to upgrade as much as possible.

I guess I will go for the 1Gig of ram then and hope that it all works well.

Thanks,

Josh
