i need either a 512 or 1 gig stick for my girlfriend's ibook. does anyone know exactly what kind of ram it needs or where to find some for very cheap? any help is much appreciated.

Depends on the iBook. A G3 needs a PC133 SODIMM. The G4s used both PC2700 and PC2100 SODIMMS. Check out ramseeker for some deals and to get the exact ram you need.

Another place to look for cheap memory is computer memory outlet. they are much cheaper than apple store or other sites that sell apple memory.

jokell82 is correct, what type of memory needed depends on the ibook.
