Hi everybody,

I own a Powerbook G4 aluminium 15", the appropriate battery would be the A1045. Since i seem to have to buy a new one quite well, now, I am wondering whether I can trust any alternatives besides Mr. jobbs luxury-models for 129€ (euro, see, I am from berlin).

There are batteries with 4400mAh, purchaseable via the internet, for example at the address below.
APPLE Notebook Akku A1045 Verkäufe onlien,Akku APPLE A1045 Preis ist der niedrigste deutsche Preis
Are those any good or should I trust stevo alone?

Does anybody know whether there may even be awsomeish better batteries? With amazing capacities exceeding the original Apple ones? Because that would be quite great, wouldn't it?

Thanks for your help!

I just recently bought a third party battery to replace the half dead one in my ibook. I will report back here when I get it and have some comments on its quality.

Considering the dangers of Lithium-Ion batteries (e.g. the 6 million Sony-made batteries that Dell and Apple just had to recall), would you trust some no-name battery? I sure wouldn't risk having an exploding battery, not for a lousy €15 savings.

Dude, German is such a cool language! (I looked at the website).
I miss the days of the G5 and XPS Pentium 4 running side by side as high-end machines.

I have had a positive expeience with the third party battery I got for my iBook. It was higher capacity than the OEM component it replaced, so I gained longer battery life. It also seems to have a longer battery lifetime. The fact that Sony batteries were problematic shouldn't necessarily deter people from buying third party batteries. To the contrary, it shows that simply because there's a first party (Apple, Dell, Toshiba) logo on it does not necessarily mean you're getting quality.

On the other hand, "Bob's Storm Door and Laptop Battery Company" products are to be shunned. You have to strike a balance between "top names don't guarantee high quality" and "I'll buy any cheapo thing I can find that will most likely fit in my computer." Research is important-you can bet that if a company's products have given a lot of people problems, you'll find rants, whines and angry threats about them on the Internet.

I am saving way more than the equivalent of 15 euros and I accept the risks of buying a 3rd party battery.
The ibook is 2 years old and the battery is down to 51% of its original life. I simply can't justify spending $119 for a new apple battery when that is 10% of a new macbook.

which battery did you get big mac?

It's been so long that I'm not certain, but because I'm subscribed to their list I'm pretty sure it was batterysavings.com.

alright, thanks!
i did some research and generelly everybody is going either "The risk is not worth it" or "mine was okay, and look: dell is burning." I found out that these people seem to sell quality for a high price: NewerTechnology
but shipping to europe like doubles the price so i am out.
I think i'm going for a apple battery and can then happily grind my teeth on the deteriorating world if steve disappoints me. which he won't. i'm sure.

oh, and, yeah: german is SUCH a cool language. dude.

Die Apfelklinik in Wiesbaden might carry the batteries (and might not)

Die Apfelklinik - Neue und gebrauchte Teile für Powerbook G3 & G4

You might be better off with an Apple battery. After all, there's the old German folk saying,
"Vorsichtig ist die Mutter der Apfel Porzelankiste."
