Have you actually got the bloody thing fixed or replaced yet? I think this is the least of your problems right now, it just gives you more leverage to demand a new one.
Clearing the PRAM should fix it. Have you updated BootCamp (drivers in XP)?

Later that day, my macbook refused to boot until I cleared the PRAM. It's at the applestore getting the plastic replaced which might take upto 8 days.
