Changing Hard drives on a Macbook Pro

Hi,

I am rather new on macs, especially on the macbook pro but I need to change my hardrive I currently have 1 GB and I want to change it to 160GB but my problem is that I dont know how to make the change within the computer, I mean if someone could give me a tip of how to remove the one that I have right now and change it.

You can find disassembly instructions at ifixit.com but you should be aware that it will void your Applecare. Given the less than stellar repair record of the MBP, voiding your Applecare is not very smart.

You're better off getting an external 2.5" HD and putting it in a firewire/usb 2.0 case. For an external firewire HD (firewire 400 is still faster than usb 2.0 on the intel Macs) you can go either IDE or SATA since SATA external cases are now coming on the market.

If it's your music collection that's taking up HD space, get a large HD iPod and manage it manually, meaning that the music resides on the iPod and you delete the mp3 or aac tracks off the laptop after backing them up to DVD.
