Hi,

I bought a battery from eBay for my PowerBook and it's just the wrong colour:

Can I get a silver sticker I can put on top of it somewhere or do I return it. It works fine.

I don't understand how they can make a good TiBook battery and miss the colour completely.

[edit] I can't find the battery on Apple's site, they don't seem to be selling it at all [/edit].

Many old TiBook batteries were darker than the TiBooks themselves... and no Apple doesn't sell them anymore.

That battery did not leave the Apple factory like that. It's either a third-party battery pack, or it's an Apple battery pack that had its internal LiIon cells replaced, and in the process, they removed and didn't replace the metal plate.

Apple doesn't list the battery for the TiBooks any more, but it should be available as a service part if you go to an Apple Store or an Apple authorized service provider. An alternative is to buy a third-party battery from a reputable dealer such as Newer, APC, or BTI.

Thanks. I might try prying the plate off the old battery to attach to the new one. Maybe not a good idea? Old battery is now good for 30 min power so it's quite useless.

Yeah, try prying it off carefully, give it a go.
I free'd my mind... now it won't come back.

You're right... but many times they were slightly darker than the TiBooks, but not that bad.

That may be so (though I never saw any such batteries), but this one is clearly missing the metal sheathing that should be there. It's just naked plastic.
