I used Iklear for the first time today (the Travel single packets and followed directions on the back)...but it left smears on my screen. I gently rubbed vertically for quite some time and was able to "buff" some of them out...but when I turn my Macbook off, I can see them faintly... when I use the Macbook, I don't see them at all in any angle, so it's not a problem. But I'm worried about those smears (a friend of mine said if I don't get them completely out, they wont come out and will be "fused" with the screen--is this true?) and what can I do? By the way, I'm new to the forums and new to macbook

first off, welcome to the forums. it is a fun, educational place.
i have used iklear in the past (just once) because a friend had an extra iklear kit. it also left streaks on my laptop screen.
however, i used my $3 bottle of walmart branded eye glass cleaner and that got rid of everything. the $3 has free refills for life (i've refilled it 3x or so since 2002) and also comes with a very nice microfiber cloth. you can get in the optical center of walmart.
i've used my walmart cleaner to clean my imac, macbook, powerbook, and it also does a great job on the aluminum powerbook (gets rid of fingerprints) and on mirrors and eyeglasses. i also use it to clean the instrument panel cover in my car. you can tell i really like the product. the nice thing about it (besides the free refills for life) is the fact that it has no ammonium in it. it may also be alcohol free, too. but i'm not sure
the iklear left streaks on my friend's ibook, but i think he was too proud to admit that my $3 walmart cleaner did a much better job than his $12 iklear. he has since bought the walmart cleaner for himself, but he claims that he only uses it for his eyeglasses.
the "fuse" thing sounds a bit drastic. i wouldn't worry about it.

thank you for the welcome!
and also, WOW, thanks for the review...I'm going to have to purchase this (i like free refils! lol). sure the Iklear worked, but I didn't like the idea of having to keep "buffing" out the smears (afraid I'd end up scratching my screen). i originally bought Iklear at the apple store and given the fact it was "recommended" by apple. i'm sure it can/is a great product but it didn't work right for my screen!

yeah, the fact that it was "recommended" by apple is the only reason why he bought iklear. he is really obsessed about keeping his laptop clean. if you search in google, you'll also read about other people being perplexed as to why the iklear doesn't work.
my friend thinks that since he bought his iklear in the wintertime, that the extreme cold damaged the solution somehow. who knows?
