Hi,
I have a powerbook G4 and Dell LCD 1905FP and I want to connect them through DVI connection. But when I connect them, the powerbook can not detect the LCD. Does anyone can give me some suggestions?

BTW, I can connect them using DVI to VGA adaptor (to LCD's VGA input) but I want a whole
DVI connection if possible.

I googled a little bit. Somebody said that it may be because Dell LCD comes with a DVI-D cable (the one I used) but powerbook has a DVI-i port. Is it the problem? If it is, does it mean that I can not connect them directly using DVI connection? Or should I go to buy a DVI-I cable?

Thanks,

Iper

DVI-I is just DVI-D plus analog signal pins. It should work fine with a DVI-D cable.

Have you tried forcing it to detect the display? ("Detect Displays" button in the displays system prefs. panel)
15" MBP, 2.33 GHz C2D, 120GB HD, 2 GB RAM, OS X 10.4. 4GB iPod Nano.

What model PowerBook?

If it's a 12" model which requires the adapter, then it sounds to me like it's not being connected in the right order.

First connect the adapter to the display cable. Then turn on the display, and then finally connect it to the Mac.
