the left ports are not working, the usb isnt working and well, I havent tried the express card simply because I dont have one. But they said if they aren't working, they'll need to replace the logic board.

The intel chips are soldered onto the MBP's logic board.

Well, if apple stores and/or suppliers are no longer stocking macbook pro's with the regular duo core...would there be a chance that I'd get the new duo 2 core (or whatever its called)?

this is, assuming that Apple isnt going to keep around the older Duo Core intel chips / logic boards.....

I really do not care that much if I do not get the new chip, as I bought this original computer and am extremely happy with its performance....

I just thought it might be a cool surprise if that did happen...

Thanks guys

Chances are none. Apple (and other computer manufacturers) stocks enough parts for each computer introduced. They will have enough for approximately 7 years. However, this may be a moot point, because I believe that the ports on the left and part of the "sound board" which is separate from the main logic board anyway.

Apple typically doesn't go around replacing bad logic boards with currently non-existent upgraded boards that may or may not fit in your case. You'll get a fixed version of the same board.
